The winter school aims at providing information about the culture, economy, geography, and society of Uzbekistan, and giving a basic knowledge of the Uzbek language. Participants will have the opportunity to study the ancient history, cultural heritage, architectural monuments, and the traditions of the nations of Central Asia and can take chances to complete their academic studies here. As well as participating students explore the issues and topics of common regional interest and start a future international partnership.
To apply, prospective applicants must be/have:
- currently enrolled in bachelor or master’s program, in any major at institutions;

Winter school will provide lectures, class discussions, roundtable discussions, workshops with practitioners by leading experts in the field of Central Asian Studies, and networking with experts and peers.

The winter School includes:
- Lectures (History of Uzbekistan, The Silk Road, Belt and Road initiative and its implications for Uzbekistan, Geography of Uzbekistan)
- Language course (Uzbek)
- Courses and excursions on culture and everyday life
- Contact and cooperation with local students

This is a NOT residential package and the tuition fee does NOT cover additional expenses such as those related to health insurance coverage, VISAand Cultural Tripsnot included in the Program.
Student’s dormitory of SamSIFL (in the campus) costs for the duration of the course: 200 EUR.

Family stay (homestay):
If you want, you can stay with families (homestay) and the course organizer supports you to find a homestay.
You can get a DAAD scholarship for this winter school. Make sure you must apply to winter school for participation and DAAD for scholarships parallel.
