In order to implement the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 23, 2001, the Center for Information Technologies was established under the order of the rector of the Institute.

The functions of the Center:

• Introduction of educational technologies in the educational process at Institute.

• Providing local network services at Institute.

• Automation of educational process at Institute

• Maintenance of networks, computers and telecommunication equipment.

• Creating electronic applications on distance learning and new information technologies.

• Creating an Electronic Library.

• Ensuring access of the Institute to international and local information networks and resources.

The SSIFL Information Technology Center includes the following sections:

1. Information and technical support section.

2. Educational Resources and Programming section.

The main tasks of Information and technical support section:

• Network management;

• Developing and enriching the Web site of the Institute;

• Automation of educational process at Institute.

• Creating an Internet service.

• Organise an effective usage of Internet resources

• Adding IP technologies.

• Providing information security.

Main tasks of the Educational Resources and Programming section:

• Repair and maintenance of technical and operational systems of the Institute;

• Guidance on creating and updating e-books and virtual stands;

• Creating a collection of e-books, study guides, lecture texts, curriculums and institute -publications;

• Presenting e-books;

• Adding modern information and pedagogical technologies in the educational process;

• Accomplishing distance learning activities.
