May 9 - Day of Remembrance and Appreciation. This day holds great significance as it is dedicated to honoring the memory of our compatriots who have been heroes throughout the centuries in independent Uzbekistan, defending our country, and fighting for its freedom, independence, and the peace of its people. It is also a day to appreciate humanity.

In this regard, today, May 8, a spiritual and educational event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Appreciation was organized at Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages. The event was opened with an introduction by the acting rector of the institute, Fazliddin Ruzikulov.

"It is our tradition to care for the elderly, inquire about their well-being, and provide them with comprehensive support. Remembering the memory of our compatriots who showed courage and sacrificed themselves for the peaceful life we enjoy today is our highest duty," said Fazliddin Ruzikulov.

During the event, the memory of the teachers and professors who had worked at the institute, retired, and passed away was honored. The participants enjoyed stage performances, national dances, and songs prepared by the students. The Quran was recited for the souls of the departed, and the event continued with tea and conversations.
